Post  Re: Skinhead Cross culture

Do you mean non-Western skinheads?

I live in Korea. I have seen skinheads from non-western cultures, and have hung out with them.

They are much like us, but they enjoy eating more seafood products and often are forced to grow their hair out a bit longer because being skin bald or even buzzed is socially unacceptable in most workplaces that are not construction sites. It is even considered inappropriate for military personnel to be skin bald or shaved very short minus the Marine Corps basic trainees.

LOL...

As a general policy I try to avoid films that hit too close to home. I did not want to watch This Is England but was forced to...

I just would be full of complaints and criticism, and it becomes an overly introspective appearance.

Things should not try to be summarized in a film.

:x have yet to see this! it looks okay. I think someone would have to work pretty hard to make a shite documentary about sharps and trads and reds and such. Ive found that these style films about our culture are at times better at explaining the culture itself from its upbringing. i get a ton of people out here (northwest u.s.a.) that just jump your shit even after explanation. its almost as though they need more proof. Understandable notion due to the media fusion of skins to racism out here in the u.s.

TAKE IT BACK!

I guess I'm the only one on this post who has this movie. The only place you can get it is off angryyoungandpoor.com, unless the director has distributed out to other places. I've had it since Dec. It's a good documentary about skins. It talks about the origins, the culture, music (from oi to reggae and ska) It has some good footage of bands. It takes it back to the 60's and 70's of when it started to now. It discusses about how this culture began and why and far as i can remember. I've only watched it once since I got it. It deals with alot of Iron Cross footage and Saab interviews, which could have moved on more to other bands and opinions, which it does, but to me it seemed like the focal point was Iron Cross at times. It also talks about fashion and different scenes and bands in the us and some in europe. For a skin documentary, which there are very few, it is good. Like i said it takes you back and explains things and moves forward to the next gen, then to how it is now. It is not a movie about racist boneheads. Strictly real and traditional. Most def. worth a view. If someone can tell me how, i'll upload it. And as to the other guy on here saying he don't want to watch movies about the skin and punk culture or This Is England (which is a great movie as well btw) but was forced to watch This Is England. Get in check. Learn about the culture that you became apart of. Some history about our scene will never hurt the soul. Another good documentary is Punk's Not Dead. I would get into that, but this is about Skinhead Cross Culture. Until there is a post about Punk's Not Dead, then we'll talk.
Hope this answers some questions.
