Ryan Bartek's new book “Return To Fortress Europe (The Big Shiny Prison Vol. 3)” has been released for free download & file sharing.

This epic 230 page finale to his “Big Shiny Prison” series chronicles the author's travels through Europe's stranger regions, interviewing some of the most prominent extreme metal & punk bands in their respective countries while simultaneously covering the protests of 2012.

“Return To Fortress Europe” is a wild journey through Greece, Romania, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Serbia, Croatia, Germany, Belgium & Nederland. Less a music book and more a tribute to the Beat Generation, “Return To Fortress Europe” combines the classic autobiographical road novel with current European Counterculture. The First Print Edition of this book will be available Fall 2019 with worldwide distribution c/o Ingram Spark and additional distro via Amazon USA, UK & EU.

Both the earlier books in this series (“The Big Shiny Prison” and “Fortress Europe”) were also released as Free Downloads before their First Print Editions. With “Return To Fortress Europe” the author again champions the D.IY. ethos over monetary gain. These books were created in the spirit of the underground music community, and despite the extreme financial costs, the goal was always about providing information and strengthening the counterculture in America. Thompson.1 year, 35 States, 600+ hours on Greyhounds & 1000 cities later, “The Big Shiny Prison” was released – a unique travel book featuring hundreds of face-to-face interviews with legends in the metal/punk undergrounds, as well as other alternative & fringe cultures in America.It's sequel “Fortress Europe (The Big Shiny Prison Vol. II)' followed the author backpacking Europe all the same. This genre-defying work also featured face-to-face interviews with a number of legends in extreme metal, punk rock, industrial, experimental, rock & electronic.​
